Sketch the falls below the dam at the park on Power House land at 10 AM, or at the pond above the dam with a break for lunch at the Central County Airport 68C then perhaps back to Little Falls in the afternoon.

Sketch sitting within the 600-tree orchard. Full bloom lasts only a couple days each year and this is it. Bring a stool or chair and your sketching or painting or photo supplies and enjoy the afternoon. 12:30 PM through the entire afternoon.

Christensen’s Orchard, N4513 E Ware Rd is a couple miles north of Waupaca. Brian and Judy Christensen are allowing us access to their orchard during the spring bloom. Thank them in the fall by returning to by some of those luscious apples.

Saturday May 13, 2023 we will be sketching in Rotary Riverview Park viewing the backside of Main Street businesses. A challenge study of shadows and variations of textures and shapes and color. Parking is widely available. Cooper Street off of Main Street will take you down to this park on the river. Hours: 9am – noon.
We meet second Saturdays of every month. No stress, no sign up, no fees, just sketch on location, often in places you might not think to try on your own. Anyone is welcome, any skill level, any style: pencil, charcoal, pastel, ink, watercolor, oil, acrylic, gouache, chalk, sun prints, 3D, clay, iPad, camera/ phone…. whatever.

With April, you never know whether it will be a snowy or a more spring-like view. Saturday, April 8, 2023 , 9 till noon, sketch at Peterson Mills, at the intersection of Gurholt Road, Peterson Road, and County V at approximately N5491 Peterson Road, Scandinavia, WI. Paint from your car or bring a chair, and your painting supplies. Anyone is welcome. It’s a beautiful location with barn buildings reflected in a millpond and green (or brown, or white) rolling hills all around. Park on Gurholt Road, leaving room for farm equipment to get by.

Come for a morning of sketching 9 AM till noon March 11, 2023, at the Waupaca Historical Depot, 525 Oak Street, built in 1907 and recently refurbished. Enjoy the building’s architecture, or the interior with its original office and equipment, or the brick fireplaces, or the box car and caboose outside. Hang on to your brushes as the trains rush by on the tracks right outside the depot. Or slip downstairs to see the model display and the wonderful 360 degree diorama created by Lisa B.

Their nooks and crannies are filled with bright garden decorations, seed racks, and fresh Valentines flowers. Bring your own supplies and a stool. Anyone is welcome, any skill level, any medium. Enjoy yourself, practice some on-location art, enjoy peeking at other’s work, and maybe slip in a bit of conversation.
Silver Mist has split off its greenhouse and gifts (now Chain O Lakes Home and Garden) from the earth-moving landscaping business. You will use the same entrance as Silver Mist, but continue down the long driveway past the greenhouses to the gift shop. This sketching group is part of the international association, Urban Sketchers, who are dedicated to gather in groups to sketch together without fees, with the goal to put on paper what is in front of them and share it with others. The group that meets is never the same bunch of folks, there’s always a new mix, so please feel comfortable joining us.

Come and try some open air sketching with us at the Iola Ski hill, either in the chalet or out on the snow, 9 till noon. Coffee and snacks available.

Iola Winter Sports Club will provide us with some great winter views to sketch plus a great chalet to enjoy the warmth with conversation and a cup of coffee or cocoa. Saturday Jan. 14, 2023, 9 AM till noon. It’s always open to the public.
Though the point is to come and sketch, cross country and ski skating trails are open. Small fees apply for their use. Snowshoe rentals also available. There are four miles of lighted trails. Actual jumping will depend on who is there to practice and the grooming. There is a major competition and Winter Carnival on Feb 4, so there is sure to be activity in January on the course and the slopes. There are 5 meter, 10 meter, 25 meter, 40 meter, and 60 meter jumps. You may want to mark the first weekend in February to come back for the festivities.
