Open Air Sketching: Hidden Studios

Hidden Studios Tour sketching photos below.

Though the Hidden Studios Art ToDSC06300 6thur doesn’t fall on a 2nd Saturday, when others have done the prep work,  we’re all for taking advantage: the three-day Hidden Studios Art Tour opens 10 studios to the public just once a year, the Cemetery Association at South New Hope knows just the right time to hold a pie social, and Mother Nature provides the wonderful fall color backdrop.   Sketch at Sharon Fujimoto’s glass blowing studio 10491 Trout Creek Road, Amherst Junction, WI 54407 at 10 AM Saturday and then skip over to the church for some pie and another sketch at 11:30 AM, and finish off with an autumn sketch of the barn on Co T and Bestul Rd. a mile south of the church… always a beautiful color spot.  Design your own route, if you wish, but do stop for pie between 11:30-12:30 to compare notes on the morning’s painting spots.

Join us on second Saturdays of the month. No stress, no sign up, no fees, just sketching or whatever for a couple hours with some conversation along the way. Bring a friend; pass the word.

Above: fall color and a cell tower.  (Cell tower?!  See James Gurney’s challenge.)

And, of course, the 20+ varieties of pies at South New Hope..    Not just cherry, pumpkin and apple:    Mine was Pear-Cranberry-Ginger….  great for painting. …

but I still regret not getting the Guinness-Chocolate-Oatmeal.

2018 — February Second Saturday: Sketching Milking Cows at Brooks Farm

This updated farm uses current technology in lowering stress on the cows. The overhead observation room at the Brooks Farm was our sketching area for a very cold evening. Cows are milked from 4am to 7am and from 4pm to 7pm. It is a one-man show for the worker to guide them single file into their milking bays. The cows know just what to do, and back themselves to the equipment.

The observation room serves as an headquarters office and a visitors overview was very comfortable. The cows milking room is 60° degrees.
